WEEK 8

the HOME

*SUNBURST RUG // Pairing with the Sunshine Sunbeds print.

1980S AUDUBON // Who am I, and why am I obsessed with audubons? Did you know that the name comes from John James Audubon, the French-American self-trained artist, naturalist, and ornithologist who set out to make a pictorial account of North America’s bird species (and their habitats)? Pro Tip: Audubon prints are in the public domain. Many modern reproduction editions have properly reprinted the image with the original publisher attributions, so in all likelihood, you have a good replica, not an original. Here’s a helpful guide.

*“FINGERS & FACES IN TAN & YELLOW” // From artist Tess Davies comes “Fingers & Faces.” Local Sources: Design Supply (Birmingham, AL)

*SUNSHINE SUNBEDS by ANNA PIHAN // Imagining this in massive form taking center stage at an Australian-inspired Airbnb.

DANISH MODERNIST VASE // These (in any colorway) make for stylish catchalls. Style atop the books linked below for a monochromatic moment. Local Sources: Similar available in-store at The Art of Simple (Seaside, FL).

the KITCHEN

MARKET DISHCLOTHS // Love waffle dishcloth.

*HEIRLOOM YELLOW CORN MASA HARINA // Homemade corn tortillas coming right up. Oaxacan-approved, by the way.

ORIGAMI POUR OVER COFFEE DRIPPER // If you’re going to be snobby about your coffee, you might as well be chic about it, too. ;)

the GARDEN

BUSINESS & PLEASURE VINTAGE-STYLE COOLER // If you’re not driving onto the beach or bringing brawny men to tote your Yeti, this soft-sided, lightweight, darling option is the perfect cooler.

COTTON CRUSHER HAT // This is a perfect gardening hat, and I will not hear otherwise.

MINI PROJECTOR // If you, like me, endure the seventh circle of hell during the months of May through September, you’re probably looking forward to a enjoying the outdoor activities our more northerly counterparts take for granted during the summer: picnics, al fresco dining, movie nights. This is for the latter.

the TABLE

PAPER CUPS // Clearly, I have parties on the mind.

CAKE STAND // Still in search of a cake stand, and this one — wait for it — takes the cake.

*FARFALLE CANDLE // I absolutely cannot with this pasta candle, and I’d like to meet the person who has enough joie de vivre to actually burn it. Local Sources: Big Night (Brooklyn, NY), Nata Concept Store (London, UK)

the CLOSET

KIERAN MINI SKIRT // Pair with a white tee! P.S. It’s on sale!

*CANVAS DUFFLE // This nautical-inspired duffle is darling and would be perfect for a boat day. Local Sources: Blue Atlas Marketplace (Newport Beach, CA).

GOLDEN MAXI // Thinking this is what I should wear to The Scout Guide Phoenix & Scottsdale’s Slim Aarons-inspired launch party! The colors compliment this year’s guide!

the VANITY

*TALLOW & HONEY BALM // My best friend — who, incidentally, has the skin of an angel — swears by tallow balm. I give her extra credit in the skin department because she’s a reforming skincare junkie who’s gone the La Mer-level skincare route, but has settled on this $29 jar of beef tallow (a rendered form of beef or mutton fat, primarily made up of triglycerides, if you were wondering) and CeraVe face wash. She advises you commit to it for 8-12 weeks (like you would any other skincare routine). While it took me a second to get past the thick, almost-greasy feel, I’m committed, on week two, and will report back.

COMPAGNIE DE PROVENCE in ROSEMARY // Yes, we all know about Compagnie de Provence, but it’s an elevated essential that brings me joy with each use. Bonus points if you purchase at your local home + gift store. I guarantee it’s carried in many around your town.

NATURAL SEA SPONGE // I style a natural sponge or two in our bathroom. It adds a little extra shush that absolutely no one but me appreciates.

LAFCO DIFFUSER // While I prefer candles over diffusers, I do love adding a diffuser to a guest bedroom or bathroom to ensure there’s a scent to greet guests.

GLOW STICK // I love most things Supergoop, a San Antonio-founded brand that (Mom, I’ looking at you here) is in no way affiliated with Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop.

the ETC.

NORTHEAST HARBOR PICKLEBALL PADDLE // I’m just so fascinated by all of the Pickleball brands that are popping up. This one caught my eye!

ICONICARS // All of my money is tied up in coffee table books. To ensure C feels included, I'm now working on a collection of books for him. Pro Tip: Run the titles of the books you’re eying through ThriftBooks.com to find them for cheap.

BALI MYSTIQUE // The way this line of Assouline coffee tablebooks has become a cult-favorite. But the fact remains: the colors are fabulous, making them a great base for your monochromatic coffee table book stacks. Local Sources: Blue Atlas Marketplace (Newport Beach, CA), Design Supply (Birmingham, AL)

FRUIT: THE ART OF PASTRY // I recently went through a phase of blueberry muffin making (use this recipe, add muffin topping, and do not trust any other recipes than the NYT Cooking version), so I’m basically a pastry chef.
