WEEK 6

the HOME

TANG WHITE WICKER DINING CHAIR // Despite how ubiquitous these chairs have become, I still adore them!

“BEACH RIDER 02” // I guess I have a thing for horses?

VIENNA FLUSH MOUNT // Still on the hunt for a light fixture in our bedroom. It must be a flush mount, C says, so as not to obstruct the TV (very important). This one feels a little modern for our home, but I love it so much.

ROLLER SHADES // I panic-purchased these roller shades this week in anticipation of our first guest arriving next week. My only requirements were that they had to be quick-ship and fit our randomly-sized windows. I would’ve paid any amount of money, and was really worried I’d be hanging sheets over the windows to give our guest some privacy (not chic). Maybe it’s because these really came through for me (at such a great price) that I’m so over the moon about them. After installing the guest bedroom’s, I purchased more for our bedroom and just finished installing them. Sure, they’d look better with a valence, but I didn’t want anything that obstructed our views and wasn’t super excited to spend an entire paycheck on window treatments.

SHEER CURTAINS // Speaking of spending an entire paycheck (or year’s salary) on window treatments, I recently came across an Instagram Reel from an interior designer discussing the things she couldn’t sign off on when working with clients, one of which included purchasing “store-bought” curtains. I think this approach relegates the fact that you no longer have to be a rocket scientist to pleat or hem curtains and the fact that there’s great semi-custom options out there. However, these are not semi-custom. Or, at least they weren’t when I purchased them for our house. Buyer beware, I’ve invested a lot of time pleating (buy extra pleating hooks when you order these as they don’t come with enough) and hemming (with iron on tape) and am now ready to steam. But I’m really pleased with the breezy, lightweight feel they offer.

LINEN DUVET // Hands down best bedding purchase ever. I bleach, machine wash, and machine dry.

*CASSETTE TAPE PETITE - WHITE // This is so fun. They remind me of Julien Roubinet’s Cassette series, which are even cooler.

ASHNEEL DINING TABLE // Currently searching for a new dining table that can seat more people. Always partial to a Parsons-style table and this one is a front runner.

the KITCHEN

CHEESE GRATER // An essential for any household that loves Italian food.

MERCER CERAMIC MUG // Own ‘em, love ‘em.

MERCER DINNER BOWLS // In fact, we have the whole Mercer set and they’re great. Can’t recommend enough.

ILLY ELECTRIC MILK FROTHER // Love our frother!! I know that the coffee maker I shared last week has a milk frother, but it scares me, so I opt for this one, which has a chocolate melting and cool frothing option.

the GARDEN

CONCRETE ACCENT TABLE // One of my friends purchased this and I adore!

GARDEN GLORY SWEDISH HOSE & NOZEL // Name one thing more annoying than garden hoses, I’ll wait. They’re (usually) ugly and insanely cumbersome. I’d be okay with C leaving this one laying around though. Local Sources: Westfork Garden Market (Fort Worth, TX)

PLANTERS // I’ve been expecting an HOA complaint over the state of our front yard since we moved in and had such grand plans of gardening this weekend. I even picked up saw palmettos from The Garden at Peach Creek, which is having a great sale through August 25th. But, as I didn’t want to have a heatstroke, I’ve put it off. Sorry neighbors! Anyway, enough about me, let’s talk about these planters. I like them.

the TABLE

WHITE PEDESTAL BOWL // I rarely purchase small decor from retailers like CB2 — I think it’s more fun and meaningful to collect items from travel (which I never do) or antique stores to imbue your home with your story — but I did break that rule for this pedestal bowl. Currently styled on our coffee table, but it’s done time in the kitchen and dining room.

ZAFFERANO PERLE CARAFE // The coolest neighbor I’ve ever had hosted us for dinner on Friday and had these placed along the table. They’re gorgeous. Local Sources: Sunset & Co. (San Antonio, TX) .

MONTES DOGGETT ICE BUCKET NO. 402 // I love this woman-owned line of fine, handmade ceramics. They feel undone, but elegant. Local Sources: A’mano (Birmingham, AL), similar at ALKMY (Birmingham, AL), similar at Duh (Pensacola, FL), similar at Westfork Garden Market (Fort Worth, TX).

FARMTABLE PLANK // This is a great serving piece for cheeseboards. I had the thought to just take a piece of reclaimed wood, fashion a handle, and paint it, but I’m a little worried about giving my guests lead poisoning. Local Sources: Etú (Atlanta, GA)

LAGUIOLE CARVING SET // Picked up a carving set at Summer Story’s warehouse sale (incidentally, the best day of my life) and it inspired a desire to host Thanksgiving that I probably won’t pursue. Local Sources: French Dry Goods

*WHITE J'AI SOIF CARAFE & GLASS // I love this not for your dining table, but your bedside table. Local Sources: Moonpenny (Chelan, WA)

the CLOSET

PLEATED BACK TOP // Currently in search of a simple short sleeve blouse after irreparably staining my old favorite. Will report back.

POPLIN SHIRT DRESS // Zara’s sizing baffles me. Exchanging the medium I ordered (and didn’t bother trying on) for a small. Probably best suited for someone with a little height, but I’m no quitter.

FAVORITE DAUGHTER HAT // Hello, it’s me.

the VANITY

LA ROCHE-POSAY EFFACLAR DERMATOLOGICAL 3-STEP ACNE ROUTINE // Look, I don’t think you should take skincare advice from anyone but your aesthetician or dermatologist. But, I love this set (and not just because it’s French). It’s really, really helped my skin, which is ultra sensitive, super dry, and super acne prone. Non-scented, cost-effective, and rather gentle, I recommend giving it a try if you haven’t found a face wash or toner you love.

WHITE TEA SOAP // Caveat emptor: the bottle is stark white and will get smudgy. Keep away from dirty (or makeup covered) little hands. You can also take a magic eraser to it. Local Sources: Juxtaposition (Newport Beach, CA).

NUFACE // The best way to describe the NuFACE effect is: temporary botox with a compounding effect on toning, fine lines, and wrinkles. If I care to look awake and alert — or if I’m feeling particularly indulgent — I’ll add this microcurrent facial training tool to my morning routine. Honestly, I should do it everyday, but I’m just too lazy. Not convinced? Go look at before and after photos or, better yet, the side by side comparison. It’s insane. Pro Tip: Skip the aqua gel and use a face mist like Mario Bedesco.

the ETC.

THE BAUHAUS // This line of coffee table books are great for stacking. You can purchase on Amazon (I like to order from 3rd-party sellers that offer second-hand options, which goes for all coffee table book purchases) and always purchase when I see them at Half Price Books.

KNOT DOORSTEP // Picked one of these up at a Becasa Semi-Annual Sale (this summer’s is already underway and happening next week at their 30Avenue location!) and it’s really funny to watch our dog, Gus, try and carry it around. Local Sources: Linen & Sand (Seagrove Beach, FL), Juxtaposition (Newport Beach, CA), similar at Blue Atlas Marketplace (Newport Beach, CA)

BASQUIAT // See above. There are tons of subjects.

ATLAS OF FURNITURE DESIGN // This is a must-have book for anyone who has the best intentions — but maybe, kind of still hasn’t opened the book — to learn about furniture design.

*PERSONALIZED CLASSIC RETURN ADDRESS STAMP // Very refined and classic.
