WEEK 3

the HOME

GREEN MARBLE BISTRO TABLE // While I love a classic bistro table (I have two of these, which have held up beautifully against the elements), this all marble interpretation is also fabulous. Pair it with the garden chairs or use it as an entryway table.

*POMPEII SCALLOPPED COMPOTE // Made in Puglia by artist Nicola Fasano, this spatterware compote features generational hand-made techniques. Purchase through The Ark Elements, which carries more from the Fasano collection, including a variety of really beautiful colors, shapes, and techniques.

“RANCH HANDS” by LINDSEY MEYER // Local Sources: Original work available at Design Supply (Birmingham, AL).

*PETER DUNBAR ZANZIBAR PILLOW // Once upon a time, I painted our sitting room green. A week of sleepless nights later, I painted it white. Green accents in the form of pillows is the most serious commitment to color I can make.

*BARNEBY GATES “BOTANICA” WALLPAPER // This wallpaper was sourced from Supply Showroom, a truly fabulous Austin-based purveyor of interesting wallpapers and fabrics. Supply has something to tickle every fancy, whether you’re in search of something traditional like this Barneby Gates “Botanica” wallpaper or looking for a cheeky find, like this Work + Sea “Clope in the Grove.

*NOLAN 10x14 OUSHAK // I understand that, amongst traditional rug dealers, the modern oushak (pronounced ooh-shak) is controversial. But it feels wrong to invest tens of thousands on something a dog might throw up on. I also don’t have tens of thousands, so that’s beside the point, I suppose. Regardless, Claire Ramirez of The Scout Guide West Texas introduced me to this Midland maker, Milagro Collective, which creates — in my opinion — more fun, more cost-effective oushaks.

“TENNIS IN THE BAHAMAS” // I have long loved this Slim Aarons photo.

*FRENCH TOLEWEAR CHANDELIER // Houston-based Lily’s Vintage Finds introduced me to the term for this chandelier. If you’re into vintage and antique furniture + smalls she’s highly worth a follow.

MALDON SALT // I think this was my gourmand boyfriend’s favorite Christmas present. We order it by the tub (as pictured) and use it on everything. Sprinkle it on your homemade chocolate chip cookies (I like this recipe), and thank me later.

*DOÑA ROSA TORTILLA PRESS // Long-spoiled by Texas’s ubiquity of truly great tortillas, Florida’s complete lack of them is just, well, sad. So, C and I — er, mostly C — have decided to make our own. You can absolutely roll them out by hand, but this press will make it easier.

the DINING TABLE

SPRING GARDEN MELAMINE PLATES // These are so pretty and the fact that they’re melamine makes them even cooler.

*ARTEMIS DECO VACANZA JUG // Darling, fabulous.

MINT MARTINI GLASSES // Again, darling! Fabulous! Local Source: P.S. The Letter (Fort Worth, TX), similar options at Baker Tatum (San Antonio, TX)

*BAMBOO FLATWARE // Bamboo flatware but make it green.

SCALLOPED NAPKINS // These are beautiful and would pair nicely with all of these selections.

*SAINT MARIE CHARGER PLATE // If you don’t know, now you know: chargers (or service plates) are decorative accents for a table upon which your dinner plates should rest. And, according to authorities, food should never, ever touch a charger. Remove before dessert is served.

the GARDEN

CHAIRISH x THE MUDDY DOG CORNHOLE BOARDS // I feel like you have to be good at drinking to be good at corn hole, or at least have any occasion to play the game. But this set is so darling.

CORDLESS LAMP // Another option from this week’s the BIWEEKLY email. Local Sources: ALKMY (Birmingham, AL), Bering’s Hardware (Houston, TX). Clic (Multiple Locations), different colorways at Sunset & Co. (San Antonio, TX).

COLUMBE MODERN GREEN METAL & RATTAN OUTDOOR CHAIR // Pair these with the above bistro table for a an outdoor wow factor. I hate that I just used the phrase “wow factor.”

*THE MARKET UMBRELLA X JULIA BEROLZHEIMER - RIVIERA GREEN // I'm currently in search of an outdoor umbrella to provide. This one is darling, though I typically err towards darker colors as Florida heat and humidity is hard on outdoor fabrics.

the CLOSET & the VANITY

CYRA DRESS IN OLIVE // The latest find in my never-ending search for summer-proof clothing. Xirena is always a good bet for lightweight dresses. Local Sources: Nines Apparel (Midland, TX)

MALIN + GOETZ CANNABIS // Don’t let the name deter you. It smells nothing like weed. But it does smell great. I have it in rollerball and candle form. Think: a masculine, herbal (no pun intended) fragrance that reads androgynous and — at least in my unsolicited opinion — interesting. Local Sources: Alys Shoppe (Alys Beach, FL).

THINK FAST LONG SLEEVE // This is a nice, lightweight (read: heat-approved) long sleeve that’s great for longer runs during which I want a bit more coverage.

the ETC.

*BUTTERFLY GARDEN BORDER GIFT SET // Learned about Dogwood Hill through The Scout Guide Birmingham. Love their semi-custom stationary and paper options that span party invitations to calling cards.

SAFARI DOG BRUSH // If you have a doodle, you must have this de-matting comb. After watching my parents’ dogs receive truly horrific haircuts, I decided Wilson would never go to the groomer’s. Instead, I groom him myself and after much trial and error — and many, many hours — this is a must-have tool.

THE BOOK OF PALMS // You know when you start to notice the idiosyncrasies of your parents in yourself? Apparently I’ve inherited my mother’s love of plants. Hopefully her talent at keeping them alive (and thriving) will develop over time as well, but in the meantime I’ll be educatating myself courtesy of this book that will also look fabulous on my coffee table.

FRESH AIR AFFAIRS: ENTERTAINING WITH STYLE IN THE GREAT OUTDOORS // Currently, outdoor dining is but a dream. So, to tide me over, I’ll be flipping through this text. Local Sources: Hudson Grace (Atlanta, Chicago, New York City, Montecito, Sag Harbor, San Francisco, Santa Monica).

*SHORT COURT PICKLEBALL PADDLE // As a tennis player, this is how I feel about pickleball. But this paddle is super cute!

POP ART STYLE // My family thought it was hilarious how excited I was to receive this book at Christmas. And I was. It’s just the most magical shade of green. Local Sources: Hyacinth (Midland, TX), Design Supply (Birmingham, AL), Sunset & Co. (San Antonio, TX)

*THANKS! GREETING CARD // Etsy is a great resource for really darling cards.
