WEEK 40

Given the frequency of correspondence, the WEEKLY might better be called the MONTHLY. It’s been quite the summer… In fact, it seems like everyone I talk to has gone through it to some degree the past few months. Though with sub-80 degree temperatures (at least for a few glorious hours before 9:00 AM), I feel reinvigorated. And while it’s too early in the season to really count on the weather to stay as it is, even the temporary relief is a treat. It feels like I imagine emerging from hibernation would feel. Slow, groggy, in major need of a stretch, but hopeful for the season ahead.

That said, I feel like I’ve been waiting for inspiration to strike to finish a WEEKLY entry. If reading The Creative Act: A Way of Being taught me anything (well, it taught me quite a lot), waiting around is unreliable. Discipline and freedom, while seemingly opposites, are excellent partners for cultivating creativity. With a routine, I don’t need to wait for creativity to strike, because — in Rick Rubin’s words — I’ve already created a schedule for it to happen.

So here goes… Back to it, I suppose. Thanks for reading (and shopping) along with what is, at its core, a creative outlet.

SALT & STONE BODY WASH // Favorite body wash ever. Mostly because of the scent, but we all have our priorities… Local Sources: Parasol (Alys Beach, FL)

LINEN EURO PILLOW // Firm believer that stripes are a neutral.

RAFFIA TOTE // It’s giving endless summer vibes.

*MAYA EARRINGS // Am a sucker for a baroque pearl. Local Sources: Le Weekend (Birmingham, AL)

GESSATO TUMBLER // Still not over the Zafferano glassware I purchased earlier this year. The brand is so artfully designed and expertly crafted.

CROPPED BUTTON UP // Purchased this during the Labor Day Sale, so will report back.

THE ARTFUL HOME by JOSH YOUNG // Thoroughly enjoyed flipping through Josh Young’s recently released book. Took lots of notes and am looking forward to another perusal.

*MOON & STARS DAD CAP // I had the privilege of working with CC.BOONE to produce the Endless Summer Collection, the first iteration of retail option available from the beloved coastal + culinary brand. We worked with a local printer to bring these beach essentials to life and are so pleased with the way each hat and bag turned out. Both the dad hats and mini boat tote are part of my daily rotation, and I can’t wait to share what’s coming next from the world of CC.BOONE!

ARTICULATING SEMI-FLUSH LIGHT // Searching for semi-flush mounts for our kitchen. These caught my eye and I’m having trouble deciding between polished nickel and matte white.

SHELL DISHES // Vintage seafood shell dishes that are too darling to pass up.

WONDERLAND // Can’t go wrong with an Annie Leibovitz coffee table book, and this anthology of fashion imagery is delightful.

CLEMENCE NECKLACE // I’ve started a tradition (just with myself, but I think that still qualifies as a tradition) of buying a piece of jewelry to commemorate milestones. I’ve had my eye on this Dorsey necklace for a while and treated myself to it in honor of two milestones. It’s been a really sweet way to imbue the everyday with meaningful memories.

GARDENERS GOAT GLOVES // There comes a time in everyone’s life where they learn never to underestimate the value of a great pair of work gloves.

WOVEN PLACEMATS // A CC.BOONE staple.

THE COMB NO. 002 // The hand-carved comb I didn’t know I needed.

CONCRETE ACCENT TABLE // I estimate 75% of our furniture is, in some way, second-hand. It’s a fact that, while horrifying to some (many?) I’m sure, I’m quite proud of, and I could go on and on about some truly incredible Facebook Marketplace scores. That, however, is not the point. The point is, these nesting tables are one of the handful of pieces that I purchased new and still love. P.S. This is a great price and I highly recommend purchasing a set. They work great for indoor, outdoor, or (in our case) shower use!

ROLLNECK SWEATER // Menswear forever.

JOSH YOUNG ORIGINALS // Full disclosure, neither of these are available. But what fabulous inspiration they offer…
