WEEK 13

the HOME

FONTAINE LARGE OFFSET CHANDELIER // I’ve long lusted after this chandelier in white. In fact, it was on my wishlist for the renovation, but, to be completely honest, I ran out of money by the time I was buying light fixtures. Whoops!

*THANKS. I TRY. by HANK LUMEN // The wonderfully talented 30A-based interior designer Florence Rogers introduced me to Hank Lumen this week. It’s just the neutral-hued ode to Texas I’ve been looking for!

ZELLIGE BLACK TILE // Scored four boxes of this style at our local Habitat Restore last week. Currently, I have no place for them, but that has never (ever!) stopped me. I still think about the La Cornue range I passed up last year… Moral of the story, visit your local Habitat Restore as often as possible, scoop up the good stuff even if you don’t have a current plan for it, and keep your mother happy so she’ll let you store it in her warehouse.

BLACK JUSTE BRAIDED RUG // This is the black jute rug my crush William McClure uses in his house. He hasn’t specifically weighed in its durability, but it seems to have withstood the test of dogs and chickens.

MARSHALL UXBRIDGE PORTABLE SPEAKER // It’s compatible with Alexa if that’s important to you. Otherwise, it’s just chic as hell.

ARNO EASEL // Settled on this easel to display a sweet little sketch I wrote about in Week 4. Local Sources: Sunset & Co. (San Antonio, TX)

COWHIDE STOOL // She’s got texture, a chic silhouette, and quick ship — what more do you want?

AFRICA DESK // Work from home but make it chic as hell.

the KITCHEN

STAUB COCOTTE // Made in Alsace, France, the cast-iron cocotte pot is a hardworking addition to your kitchen. And with fall on the horizons (even if only in my dreams), it promises to get lots of use for stews, bread, and roasts.

STAGG ELECTRIC KETTLE // Love this modern tea kettle. Not only does it get a lot of use in our household, but it’s also allowed to sit on the stove when not in-use. I recommend opting for the version with a heating base so you can add to your coffee bar situation or guest house. Otherwise, it works just fine on an electric stove.

OVER THE FAUCET SPONGE HOLDER // This powder-coated holder hooks onto your faucet for a space-saving, sanitary resting place for your sponge. Personally, I’d love something that was in the same finish as our faucet (polished nickel for inquiring minds) but I love the ergonomic design of this.

the TABLE

SABRE FLATWARE // If I’ve shared the Sabre Bistrot Flatware once, I’ve shared it a hundred (okay three) times. But I know what I like. And you’ll like it too.. Local Sources:

UASHMAMA WINE BAG & COOLER // My friend and neighbor CC.BOONE used these for a darling al fresco dinner she hosted a few weeks back, and I was floored. They’re so brilliant and chic, yet wonderfully laid back. Bonus points for seven other colors that will complement your tablescape.

SPINDLE CANDLE // Candles with character. Local Sources: ökenhem (George, UT)

OAXACAN FLORAL TAPER // Day of the Dead is about as Halloween-themed as I’m willing to get, and this candle fits the bill. Bonus points because it’s not actually Halloween-themed and can be used year-round.

the GARDEN

FIRE PIT // I know Solo Stove has swept the nation for its ergonomic design, but nothing beats the simple, sculptural look of this fire pit. I can’t wait until it’s cool enough to use it!

UNIVERSAL GARDEN TOOL RACK // Form meets function in this universal garden tool rack.

OUTDOOR STRING LIGHTS // I have five boxes of these in my shed for the day I get my hands on a size XL ladder to hang them from our pine trees.

the VANITY

BLACK NOISE EARPLUGS // This is a non-negotiable travel essential for fussy sleepers (ahem, me). I also hear they’re for relationship. If they’re sold out, opt for these.

FLAMINGO ESTATE GARDEN BAR SOAP // Flamingo Estate is making farming cool again. I just signed up for their seasonal subscription, and I’ve been checking the tracking status hourly since hitting purchase. I'm eager to experience the cult-classic brand IRL.

MAD ET LEN CANDLE // A candle company you need to know about. Very much the candle du jour — how could it not be with its sumptuous scents and vessel?

the CLOSET

MARK CROSS BOX BAG // This Marc Cross signature style is a longtime lust. Did you know it was inspired by the overnight case the brand created for Grace Kelly in the film “Rear Window?”

SPLIT HEM TURTLENECK // Relaxed fit? Stripes? Sign me up!

CENTENARY SUITCASE // The perfect carryon for someone with a private jet.

BOW TIE PUMP // With the cute bow and peekaboo heel details, this an elevated version of the classic black pump.

the ETC.

MISC. GOODS PLAYING CARDS // I've begun strategizing Christmas gift guides for clients, and these cute playing cards caught my eye. They'd make for a fun stocking stuffer! Local Sources: Cave + Post (Phoenix, AZ)

ON FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY // Today, a houseguest remarked how many coffee table books I had. I told her she hadn’t even seen half of it. Local Sources: Cave + Post (Phoenix, AZ).

ULTIMATE CAR COLLECTOR BOOK //  On a similar note, I’ve been on the lookout for coffee table books C would enjoy. This fits the bill.

MARBLE BOOKENDS // Local Sources: Paloma & Co (Houston, TX)

MOLESKIN CLASSIC NOTEBOOK // For me, it’s Moleskin or bust. I opted for their pocket-sized option for years before upgrading to the 5x8.25” unlined option to save my eyesight. While we’re on the subject of journals… Journaling has been essential to my growth and sanity. I’ve waxed and waned, but have relied on it since I was ten (give or take a few years). It’s wonderfully embarrassing to go back and reference how I was feeling at age 14 (spoiler, angsty), and it is incredibly healing to express myself without care for syntactical sophistication. In short, I can’t recommend journaling enough. Read The Artists Way if you’re stuck on where to start with the practice.

HEIRLOOM MODERN // Explore the spaces of thoughtful homeowners who use décor to give their residences a sense of history and autobiography — something we should all be doing. Think it can’t be done because you live in a builder grade house? Think again.

ANNIE LEIBOVITZ: THE EARLY YEARS // I’ve seen Annie’s latest book around town a few times this week (specifically at Parasol), so the legendary photographer has been top of mind recently.
