WEEK 26

GARDEN party

HONOR ENCAJE EMBROIDERED MINI DRESS // Agua Bendita makes the best florals (for Spring? Groundbreaking.).

GARDEN PARTY, 1970S by SLIM AARONS // Now a pop-culture icon with easily recognizable imagery, I encourage you to explore some of Slim Aaron’s less ubiquitous works. And, certainly, if you’re in the market for artwork, opt for one of those less-over-produced options for your walls.

VINTAGE ROSE TOLE CHANDELIER // How perfect for a little girl’s room? It gives secret garden vibes.

BISTROT GREEN PLACE SETTING // A forest green handled 5-piece bistro flatware set for indoor and utdoor entertaining. I recommend the shiny finish (yes, that’s literally what it’s called).

DIPTYQUE ROSES // I think I’ve written about this before, but I once asked for a XL Diptyque candle for Christmas or a birthday and my parents thought it was just the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever proposed. So tickled by the chokehold consumerism has on their daughter (see, I’m not immune, either), they still laugh about it.

KIMEZE SUNNIES // I am completely unable to accurately convey how much I hate the 90s / early 2000s gas station sunglass trend that has been so readily embraced by the youths, and, worse, some of my generation. It’s the grip of consumerism embodied and I blame Bella Hadid. Anyway, I’ll get off my soapbox and say these are nice!

MID CENTURY RUSSELL WOODARD SPUN FIBERGLASS LOVESEAT // I found a set of Russell Woodard chairs with a table for $150 on Facebook Marketplace and snapped it up. Definitely a project piece, I’ve since discovered exactly why the set was so cheap. With chipping fiberglass, it’s become the bane of my existence. But when I get it refinished, oh boy. Bless my sweet family and their support of my harebrained, half-finished projects.

GREEN EMBROIDERED FABRIC // This delicate pattern feels so special for a tablecloth, pillow, or chair.

GREEN ISLA CANDLEHOLDER // Delicate and darling. No one curates garden party chic quite like Over the Moon.

POMPEII ESPRESSO CUP & SAUCER // I can’t resist an espresso cup and saucer. For some reason, the addition of a saucer to any cup of espresso/coffee or tea feels indulgent, like I’m being treated to one at some posh boutique hotel in Tuscany or Southern France.

DAMIEN HIRST: CHERRY BLOSSOMS // A book that’s just as gorgeous inside as it is out.

TF DESIGN COMPOTE // We love a footed bowl. Especially when it keeps all your family’s shit off your counter tops.

*MYRTLE TOPIARY // I’ve really been hoping to find topiaries locally, but have come up dry. Anyone know of a Walton County garden shop that will delight me with live topiaries that I can kill within one month?

TULIP TUMBLER MILLEFIORI // Handblown in Murano, Italy, these are intended for water or apertivos, but I think investing in one for a small floral arrangement would be equally compelling.

SEEDLIP GARDEN 108 // I first learned of Seedlip through Garage, a not-so-secret secret bar in downtown Austin, TX. Eager to offer teetotalers such as myself a drink option that was a little more self-respecting than a Shirley Temple, they whipped up non-alcoholic beverages using what was, at the time, the only dedicated non-alcoholic spirit. The non-alcoholic beverage industry has come a long way since I first got sober, but Seedlip still has the most compelling ethos and, certainly, heritage. Inspired by the The Art of Distillation, published in 1651 by John French, the English brand walks a fine line between acknowledging the need for alcohol alternatives, without being an alcohol-removed option. Instead, Seedlip is its own thing. Anyway, the botanicals really shine when you put in some effort (think: mixing a shrub or bitters or other cocktail things I don’t understand or care to anymore), but I’ll add it to a Topo Chico in a nice glass when I’m feeling really wild.

GINORI FLORAL CHARGER // Ginori but make it less predictable.

THE ART OF OUTDOOR LIVING // Currently in my gardening era. All I want is to be outdoors, allergies be damned.

IVORY RESIN TABLE // I don’t think this is supposed to go outside, but what do I care? Will be using it as inspiration for my next construction project but opting for plaster versus resin.

ARCHIVE BY SOFIA COPPOLA // I’ll never quite get over her version of Marie Antoinette. If you haven’t seen it, get ready for a visual journey.
